VERIFIED FALSE – Fulton County Will Not Be Transparent with Ballot Images and Cast Votes

8:40 PM – Social media posts are raising false claims about Fulton County’s lack of transparency related to releasing ballot images and cast votes. These claims are based on the Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) request for ballot images and cast votes no later than Wednesday, November 6th.

According to Georgia Code, documents shall be open to public inspection once they are no longer being used by the custodian if they are using them for election administration. The CGG wants the materials to be made available immediately, but the Georgia Code gives the county the right to postpone making them public until they are no longer in use.

A new rule was passed by the State Election Board in September that is not under effect that requires stored ballot images to be public record and subject to disclosure upon 72 hours of request.
